How do you build a healthy, active, muscular, lean, and energy-efficient body?
Today's world of fitness and nutrition can certainly be very confusing, complicated... and misleading. Companies and products are designed that promote quick-fix, short-sighted approaches to health (aka, get those 6-pack abs in a week!/lose 10 pounds in 6 days!/take this pill and watch the fat melt off of your body!).
Sure, some of these products and gimmicks deliver results, but at what cost to your health (and your wallet)? Do the results encourage sustainable, long-term healthy habits?
Plant-based eating promotes eating and living naturally, making choices based on not only what the food is, but where it comes from.
It also encourages eating whole foods rather than processed foods. It's common knowledge that fast food, junk food, processed carbohydrates, and sugary drinks, for example, are NOT the types of foods to eat if you want to feel, live, and perform optimally.
However, many people are still unsure of what healthy eating actually looks like. And, yes, it is different for everyone. In particular, eating plant-based foods doesn't necessarily mean you are eating vegan... or even vegetarian.
But in basic terms, whole, organic, plant-based foods have max nutrition and minimal empty calories. They are packed with vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants essential for sustainable health and improved athletic performance.
What are some specific benefits you can expect from a plant-based lifestyle?
Reduced inflammation
Enhanced bone health
Strengthened immunity
Reduced digestive stress
Increased energy levels
Fewer cravings
Quicker recovery from workouts and physical activity
Increased strength and stamina
More restful sleep
Improved skin health
Reduced body fat
Even one of these benefits is worth it. As a society, we are inundated with foods and convenience trends that as a whole, we suffer from the repercussions of chronic inflammation, sugar dependence, diabetes, obesity, and more.
Now is your chance to take the next step in your health journey as an athlete, parent, employee... as YOU. Taking one small action step at a time over a long-term period allows healthy habits to be explored, practiced, and established.
