Real Food Tip!

Real Food Tip: Pay attention to seasonings that may have chemical or highly processes ingredients and make homemade versions instead. Some examples may include taco seasoning, ranch dip or flavored salts. Read the labels and make a real food choice as these things need to be replaced. Some of these items have MSG in them, especially the taco seasoning and other seasonings. MSG is an amino acid used as a flavor enhancer in soups, salad dressings, chips, frozen entrees, and many restaurant foods. MSG is known as an excitotoxin, a substance which overexcites cells to the point of damage or death. Studies show that regular consumption of MSG may result in adverse side effects which include depression, disorientation, eye damage, fatigue, headaches, and obesity.

MAKE YOUR OWN TACO SEASONING:

Quick and easy homemade taco seasoning that is better than any store-bought "seasoning packet"! It's so simple to make, literally takes just 5 minutes of your time, and tastes amazing with tacos, chicken, pasta, vegetables, and more!

Ingredients 4 tablespoons chili powder

2 tablespoons ground cumin

2 teaspoons garlic powder

2 teaspoons onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

1 tablespoon kosher salt

1 tablespoon paprika Instructions Measure out all of the ingredients and mix them in a small bowl. Store in a Ball jar, or any airtight spice jar that you have. Notes You can double or triple the amounts depending on how much seasoning you want to make. I personally make a big batch, and always have enough seasoning to use on hand.

Store the stone house seasoning in little glass jars with lids at room temperature in your pantry for as long as you'd like.

You can reduce or increase the amount of salt. The salt is moderate in this recipe, so if you are watching the salt then you can reduce it or increase it if you want it a bit saltier.

If you want a spicier taco seasoning mix, then just add more chili powder and/or cayenne and/or red chili flakes.

Feel free to add more dried herbs if you like dried basil or dried parsley.
